2009 Point Report for Dance & Figures
2009 Point Report for Freestyle
Purpose
The purpose of the Point Report is to determine which rink operators
get the opportunity to host future contests.
Point Report Calulation Rules
1. For each SCAL contest, each skater earns 1 point for the first event skated, and
2/3 points for each subsequent event skated.
2. Total points are tallied by rink and by Contest Type (Freestyle vs. Dance & Figures).
3. For the 2009-2010 season, 6 contests will count (3 freestyle contests and
3 dance & figure contests). Note that Gold Skate and California State Games don't count.
4. Skaters who skate only Precision earn only 2/3 of a point.
5. Skaters must have a card at the time of the event to earn points, except
for Beginners Events. The Skater Checkin Sheet will be used to determine this.
Choosing Contests
1. The choosing begins after the last SCAL Contest.
2. The SCAL will determine how many Freestyle contests to have in the next season.
3. If there are 3 Freestyle Contests, there will be 3 time slots. Each Time Slot is
a set of possible dates for the contest.
4. For Freestyle, the following will be done:
a) The rink with the most points for Freesyle will have first choice.
b) The rink owner will be given the opportunity to host the contest in any of the open
Time Slots.
c) If the rink owner picks a time slot, then the process continues with the rink with
the next highest number of points.
d) If the rink owner passes, then the process continues with the rink with the next
highest number of points.
5. Dance & Figures is done the same way as Freestyle.
